Call is now open for a postdoctoral position on distributed computing for sequencing data in Helsinki:
https://www2.helsinki.fi/en/open-positions/postdoctoral-researcher-in-distributed-computing-for-sequencing-data

This is a practice oriented position suitable for candidates interested in algorithm engineering. The starting point is a pangenomic variant calling tool PanVC+founders (https://doi.org/10.1093/bioinformatics/btab516). The idea is to further develop its indexing and alignment techniques and make the full workflow work in a distributed cluster environment. This project is part of a large consortium focusing on distributed computing for pangenomics and metagenomics, so there will be networking opportunities on related topics as well. In particular, extension of the initial contract (X/2022-12/2022) to two years is possible with the consortium partner, Academy Professor Lauri Aaltonen, head of the Centre of Excellence in Tumor Genetics Research. The work would then continue tailoring the methods for modern long read sequencing techniques and applying the methods on tumor genetics settings.

If you are interested, please contact veli.makinen at helsinki.fi for further information. Application details can be found following the link above.
