Dear Colleague,

The stars are aligning: travel is starting again (?), Gonzalo Navarro will
give a keynote "On the Compressibility of Highly Repetitive Sequences" at
the *Data Compression Conference* (DCC '22), and there will be another
special session there on *Computation over Compressed Data*!

This session extends the chain of special sessions at DCC '14, '16, '18 and
'20 and we again invite you to submit interesting new results you may have
both on *compact data structures* and on *compression-aware algorithms*
(those that run faster on compressible inputs). Selected papers from those
previous sessions were published in special issues of the *Journal of
Discrete Algorithms* (March 2017), *Algorithmica* (July 2018) and *Information
and Computation* (one in August 2020 and another in preparation). If we
again receive enough suitable papers, we will arrange another special issue
of a comparable journal for extended versions of some of them.

Papers are due by *November 1st*, 2019 (23:59 PST) and the conference will
take place from March 22nd to 25th, in Snowbird, Utah (a premier ski resort
in the Rocky Mountains). The DCC submission process (see
http://www.cs.brandeis.edu/~dcc/Call.html) will allow authors to direct
their papers to the special session, but submissions will be otherwise
handled in the same way, will be subject to the same review process and, if
accepted, will be included in the same proceedings.

Best regards,
Travis Gagie and Nicola Prezza
(session co-chairs)
