A 3-years PhD fellowship in the area of bioinformatics algorithms is offered in Marne-la-Vallée University in France, AlgoB group (http://igm.univ-mlv.fr/AlgoB/). The work will focus on the development of new algorithms and data structures for Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies. The PhD work will be part of the ABS4NGS project: a French national interdisciplinary project on NGS including several groups of mathematicians, statisticians, computer scientists and biologists.

The student will have to combine skills in discrete mathematics, algorithm design and analysis, with a taste for programming and experimentation which will be an important part of this work. Knowledge of biology is not required.

The candidate must have a master degree in Computer Science or Bioinformatics. Knowledge of french is not required, however, at least some basic notions of french would be a plus.

The work will be carried out in 'Laboratoire d'Informatique Gaspard-Monge' (LIGM) located about 20km east to Paris and is easily accessible from Paris (~20 minutes by suburb train from downtown Paris).

To apply send your full CV, statement of research interests, your grades in Master degree, and names and contact details of at least two references by e-mail to Gregory.Kucherov at univ-mlv.fr.
