Hi all,
This is a reminder that we will have our reading group at *11am* today.
Xiao will present her project on "Resilient Object Partitioning and
Replication". Since the manuscript itself is still under submission, she
provided its abstract as follows.
*Abstract*: Inter-organizational systems where subsystems with partial
trust need to cooperate are common in finance, healthcare, and the
military. In the face of malicious Byzantine attacks, the ultimate goal is
to assure end-to-end policies for the three aspects
of trustworthiness: confidentiality, integrity, and availability. In
contrast to confidentiality and integrity, provision and validation of
availability is often missing. This paper enforces end-to-end policies
simultaneously for all three aspects of trustworthiness. It presents a
security-typed object-based language, a partitioning transformation, an
operational semantics, and an information flow type inference system for
partitioned and replicated classes. The type system provably guarantees
that well-typed methods enjoy noninterference and that their types quantify
their resilience to Byzantine attacks. Type inference results in automatic
placement and replication of fields and methods that lead to automatic
synthesis of trustworthy-by-construction distributed systems. The resulting
systems can gracefully tolerate faults that are as strong as their
resiliency specifications.
Please use the link https://ucr.zoom.us/j/2957702345 to join. This would be
the last group for Spring. See you all very soon!
Best,
- Shitong
