Dear colleagues,

I am looking for a PhD student to join my research group in the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Miami University (Oxford, Ohio, USA), possibly starting in Spring’27 or Fall’27. The student will be mostly working on new dimensions in data compression and coding area with extensions to distributed storage, bioinformatics, and novel privacy-preservation schemes.

- A strong background in algorithms, discrete mathematics, and/or coding theory
- Genuine research interest in string algorithms, data compression, or succinct data structures
- Ideally, prior coursework, thesis work, or implementation experience touching these or closely related areas
- Fluent in software engineering to convert research ideas into test program
