Dear all,

I have a funded PhD position available at the University of Queensland
in Brisbane, Australia. The project will investigate compressed data
structures and algorithms for solving both textual and bioinformatics
problems, working at the intersection of the fields of algorithms,
information retrieval, and bioinformatics.

A working knowledge of common data structures, algorithms, data
compression techniques, and/or efficient systems programming  would be
of benefit to someone working on this project. If you enjoy thinking
about and working on elegant data structures and algorithms, or if you
like making systems go really fast, you would likely make a strong
candidate. PhD positions in Australia are typically between 3-4 years.

Please see the official ad for more details on entry requirements and
how to apply:
https://study.uq.edu.au/study-options/phd-mphil-professional-doctorate/projects/compressed-indexes-scalable-genomic-pattern-matching-and-retrieval

Note that the ad will close in about two weeks; you may also email me if
you have any questions. Please feel free to pass this message on to any
interested colleagues or students you might know.

Thank you!
