Hi everyone,

Many people in the CPM/SPIRE community have realized 2025 is the 25th
anniversary of the CSA and the FM-index. They may not know, however,
that Roberto Grossi and Giovanni Manzini also turn 60!

Ruben Becker and Nicola Prezza organized a workshop in Venice on July
25th, the day after SEA, ostensibly to celebrate the indexes'
anniversaries but really to salute Roberto and Giovanni --- who both
gave invited talks --- and surprise them with Festschrifts compiled
over the past year or two.

Alessio Conte, Andrea Marino, Giovanna Rosone and Jeff Vitter edited
Roberto's, "From Strings to Graphs, and Back Again", which includes 20
papers from 66 authors and 312 pages. Paolo Ferragina, Gonzalo
Navarro and I edited Giovanni's, "The Expanding World of Compressed
Data", which includes 14 papers from 55 authors and 324 pages. Thanks
again to everyone who contributed!

The Festschrifts are volumes 131 (Giovanni's) and 132 (Roberto's) in
Dagstuhl's Open Access Series in Informatics (OASIcs) and are freely
available online:
====
https://www.dagstuhl.de/dagpub/978-3-95977-390-4 (Giovanni's),
https://www.dagstuhl.de/dagpub/978-3-95977-391-1 (Roberto's).

So now nobody needs to worry about what they're going to read for the
rest of August! :o)

Cheers,
Travis
(on behalf of Alessio, Paolo, Andrea, Gonzalo, Giovanna and Jeff)
