*Call for Demonstrations*
The annual SIGIR conference is the major international forum for the
presentation of new research results and the demonstration of new systems
and techniques in the broad field of information retrieval (IR). The 46th
ACM SIGIR conference, will be run as a hybrid conference – in person in
Taiwan, with support for remote participation, from July 23rd to 27th,
2023.

We cordially invite all those working in areas related to IR to submit
original proposals for demonstrations.

Demonstrations present first-hand experience with research prototypes or
operational systems. They provide opportunities to exchange ideas gained
from implementing IR systems and obtain feedback from expert users.
Proposals from startups and industry players are also welcomed. Accepted
demonstration submissions will appear in the conference proceedings.

A good demonstration submission should be interesting to a SIGIR audience
and should show a novel solution to a problem. The demonstration submission
should address the following questions: Who is your target user? Why does
your system exist and why is it important? What problem is your system
trying to address? What does your demonstration do and how does it work?
What does it look like? How does it compare with existing systems? Finally,
how and when might your technology have an impact, either technically,
commercially, or societally? Please note that, unlike short and full paper
submissions, demonstration submissions are single blind. You are not
expected to take measures to conceal your identity from reviewers.

*Important Dates*Demo papers due: February 21, 2023
Demo papers notification: March 31, 2023

publication date affects the deadline for any patent filings related to
published work.

*Scope*
Demonstration submissions are welcome in any of the areas related to any
aspects of IR:
- Search and Ranking (research on core IR algorithmic topics, including IR
at scale)
- Search Recommendation & Content Analysis for Search and Recommendation
(research focusing on recommender systems, rich content representations and
content analysis)
- Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing for Search and
Recommendation (research bridging ML, NLP, and IR together)
- Humans and Interfaces (research into user-centric aspects of IR including
user interfaces, behavior modeling, privacy, interactive systems)
- Evaluation (research that focuses on the measurement and evaluation of IR
systems)
- Fairness, Accountability, Transparency, Ethics, and Explainability (FATE)
in IR (research on aspects of fairness and bias in search and recommender
systems)
- Domain-specific Applications (research focusing on domain-specific IR
challenges)
