Applications are invited for a one-year MSc. position in Natural Language Processing (NLP) at INESC TEC [https://www.inesctec.pt/en], Porto, Portugal. Submission deadline is May 31st, 2019.  

The selected candidate will contribute to the development of methods and tools within the field of information extraction, information retrieval and text summarization, in the scope of PORTULAN CLARIN, which belongs to the Portuguese National Roadmap of Research Infrastructures of Strategic Relevance and is part of the international research infrastructure CLARIN ERIC [https://www.clarin.eu/] - European Research Infrastructure for Language Resources and Technology. 

The project is supervised by Professor Ricardo Campos [https://www.inesctec.pt/en/people/ricardo-campos], from the ICT Departmental Unit of the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar and member of LIAAD-INESC TEC, the Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support Lab of U. Porto.  

The aim of the project is to continue research in temporal information retrieval and text summarization projects that we have been engaged in the last couple of years (e.g., YAKE! keyword extractor – yake.inesctec.pt; and tell me stories summarization framework – tellmestories.pt).  

The candidate should have a MSc. in Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Data Science or similar and research experience in Information Retrieval / Text Mining / Natural Language Processing / Machine Learning. Fluent English required (both oral and written). Preference factors: Good academic record. Good programming skills in Python. Interest in enrolling in a PhD programme.  

The term is for 1 year with starting date in between [June 1st and September 1 st, 2019]. Salary will be 989.70€ per month (free of taxes). Location: Porto, Portugal. Hosting team: LIAAD INESC TEC.
