[CPM-SPIRE-L] PhD student position at University of Helsinki

Dear all,

I have funding (fees + competitive stipend) for a PhD student to work on
algorithms and data structures here in the Department of Computer Science
at the University of Helsinki. Particular areas of focus include (but are
not limited to):
-data compression;
-succinct and compressed data structures;
-algorithms and data structures for sequences (strings);
-algorithm engineering and experimental analysis of algorithms and data
structures;
-applications in bioinformatics, information retrieval, database systems,
and data mining.

Applicants should have a keen interest (and ideally some research
experience) both in designing algorithms and data structures and in
implementing them.

Starting date is negotiable and applications will be accepted until the
position is filled.
