At the University of Bremen in the faculty for mathematics and informatics

there is a full position available, from 01.07.2017, initially for

a duration of 3 years. The positions is at the level of


Wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in

Entgeldgrupppe 13 TV-L


within the group "databases" headed by prof. Sebastian Maneth. The research

topics of this group lie at the intersection of databases, formal methods,

and automata theory. The positions are funded by the university and include

a teaching load of 4 hours per week during teaching periods (teaching may

be in English).


The position is meant for a PhD student. The job holder is supposed to
strengthen

the database group in research and teaching. Wrt teaching, we expect
engagement

in tutoring the basic database lectures. Depending on the qualification, it
will

also be possible to offer own lectures.

Good knowledge in at least one of these current research topics is required:


- formal methods (e.g., transducers) for data wrangling

- automatic learning of data cleaning and wrangling tasks

- transformations and queries over heterogeneous data

- schema languages for graph data (e.g. RDF)

- algorithms over grammar-compressed graphs


We expect good programming skills in Scala, C++, or Java, as well as

the interest and willingness to carry and/or coordinate programming tasks

related to the above research topics.
