StringMasters was established with the aim of bringing together researchers
in string algorithms at all levels (senior, junior, especially graduate
students) to study current problems of particular theoretical and practical
interest. It is informal, with no scheduled presentations, entirely devoted
to new research resulting from the interactions among the participants.

StringMasters was first held at McMaster University in 2007 and attracted
nearly 20 researchers from eight institutions in half a dozen different
countries. Since then it has been held twice or more per year at locations
all over the world, including Warsaw, Prague, Verona, and London.
