A PhD position in computational biology is available within the BONSAI
bioinformatics research group in France, at INRIA Lille and LIFL.
http://www.lifl.fr/bonsai/

Subject : Models and algorithms for the analyses of gene alternative
transcripts, with applications to health issues

Duration: 36 months.

Starting date: October 1st 2014.

Application deadline: May 31, 2014. http://tinyurl.com/qzcvxkh

Before applying, candidates should email a detailed CV with the last
academic transcripts, and a cover letter to contacts:
Aida.ouangraoua at inria.fr and Mikael.Salson at lifl.fr

Description:

The successful candidate will work on the development of new models and
algorithms for the representation, the comparison, and the prediction of
sets of gene alternative transcripts. She/He will design methods and
algorithms related to sequence alignment, pattern matching, graph
algorithms, molecular evolution and phylogeny techniques, in order to
outperform the state of the art in the analyses of transcriptome data.
In collaboration with biology labs, we aim to apply those methods to the
analysis of cancer transcriptome data.

The ideal candidate should hold a Master degree in computer sciences or
in bioinformatics, and have a strong background in algorithms and
programming.

Regards,
Mikael.
